ESBRIET – (Pirfenidone)

Esbriet is a medicine used to treat mild to moderate idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in adults. IPF is a chronic disease in which tough fibrous tissue continually forms in the lungs, leading to persistent coughing, frequent lung infections, and great difficulty breathing. “Idiopathic” means that the cause of the disease is unknown. It has been shown to reduce the production of fibroblasts and other substances involved in the formation of fibrous tissue during the body’s tissue repair process, thus slowing the progression of the disease in patients with IPF.
