SYNACTHEN – (tetracosactide)

It is a drug that has the property of stimulating the secretion of different hormones at the level of the adrenal glands, which is why it is usually used in the study of patients with the early appearance of pubic hair or other endocrinological disorders.

It is indicated in adrenocortical insufficiency and for the treatment of conditions that are responsive to glucocorticotherapy, but in which oral glucocorticoid therapy has poor gastrointestinal tolerability or where normal doses have not obtained an adequate response. Uses: neurological conditions (acute flare-ups of multiple sclerosis, infantile myoclonic encephalopathy with hypsarrhythmia). Rheumatic diseases. Dermatoses (pemphigus, severe chronic eczema, erythrodermic or pustular forms of psoriasis).
