SANDOSTATIN – (somastostatin)

Sandostatin is a synthetic compound derived from somatostatin, a substance normally found in the human body that inhibits the effects of some hormones such as growth hormone. Sandostatin is used for acromegaly, a condition in which the body produces too much growth hormone. Sandostatin markedly reduces the symptoms of acromegaly, including headache, excessive sweating, numbness in the hands and feet, fatigue, and joint pain. Sandostatin is used to treat people with pituitary tumors that make too much thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).
